The HBZT CALL function is used to make a request to a HostBridge for zIIP (HBz) server.

The format of the HBZT CALL command is:

HBZT CALL(,Serverid)

where Serverid is the name of an HBz Server (such as the installation defaults BASE or JSE).

The Serverid parameter is required.

When you invoke the CALL function by typing in:

and press the Enter key, you will see a screen similar to:

The screen will show that a successful CALL has been made to the server, and will provide the address and length of the local work area (LWA) associated with the task-related user exit (TRUE) defined for the Server.  In addition, the current status of the Server is displayed.

If the CALL function is invoked in any of the following situations:

  • When HBz is not INITialized
  • When the Serverid is not specified
  • When the Serverid is invalid

the following error message will appear:

You should then press the Enter key to be able to invoke further HostBridge functions.

If the Server specified in the HBZT CALL command is disabled, the following error message will appear:

You should then press the Enter key to be able to invoke further HostBridge functions.
