The HBZT EXTRact function is used to display the address and length of the Global Work Area (GWA) for the task-related user exit (TRUE) associated with a HostBridge for zIIP (HBz) Server in a CICS region.

The information provided is a subset of the information displayed by performing an HBZT STATus function. 

The format of the HBZT EXTRact command is:

HBZT EXTR(,Serverid)

where Serverid is the name of an HBz Server (such as the installation defaults BASE or JSE).

The Serverid parameter is required.

When you invoke the EXTRact function by typing in:

and press the Enter key, you will see a screen similar to:

The GWA address and length are displayed.

If the EXTRact function is invoked in any of the following situations:

  • When HBz is not INITialized
  • When the Serverid is not specified
  • When the Serverid is invalid

the following error message will appear:

You should then press the Enter key to be able to invoke further HostBridge functions.

If an attempt is made to issue an EXTRact request against a Server that is not enabled, the following message appears:
