The HBZT NEWCopy function allows you to refresh a HostBridge for zIIP (HBz) Server in a CICS region. The refreshing consist of re-reading and processing the directives that are found in the HBz PARMLIB members HBZ@+Serverid and HBZ@+Sysid. In order to perform the NEWCopy function, the specified Server must be ENABled and STOPped.

The format of the HBZT NEWCopy command is:

HBZT NEWC(,Serverid)

where Serverid is the name of an HBz Server (such as the installation defaults BASE or JSE).

The Serverid parameter is required.

When you invoke the NEWCopy function by typing in:

and press the Enter key, you will see a series of screens similar to:

The messages show what directives were in force before and after the NEWCopy.

Once a NEWCopy is performed, you should then STARt the Server so that it is available to process work:

If the NEWCopy function is invoked in any of the following situations:

  • When HBz is not INITialized
  • When the Serverid is not specified
  • When the Serverid is invalid

the following error message will appear:

You should then press the Enter key to be able to invoke further HostBridge functions.

If an attempt is made to perform a NEWCopy for a Server that is disabled, the following message appears: 

You should then press the Enter key to be able to invoke further HostBridge functions.

If an attempt is made to perform a NEWCopy against a STARted Server, the following message appears:

You should then press the Enter key and issue a STOP request against the Server, followed by the NEWCopy.
